INNOVATION CENTER

INNOVATION CENTER

The Magic Lantern Innovation Center is a hub of creative activity. A joint project of Maine 4-H Foundation and the University of Maine Extension Service, the Innovation Center seeks to inspire youth towards leadership, creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and the acquisition of skills. We recognize the benefits of an interdisciplinary approach to everything from robotics to painting, and prefer STEAM to STEM, appreciating the role of art in shaping vision. We offer classes, workshops and entertainment throughout the year, but are especially busy during the summer months when we draw young participants from summer camps, recreation departments, homeschool groups and childcare programs. We nurture a sense of belonging and see many lasting friendships develop through our programs.

We are fortunate to be surrounded by outstanding organizations in addition to 4-H, and regularly invite professionals from area museums, colleges, environmental associations, art galleries and tech start-ups to lead workshops. Family entertainment includes circus performances, magic acts and music showcases.
